i’m angry.

mostly at the world, but also at myself for a multitude of things i won’t get into.

like many of you who feel angry at the world, i find it extremely difficult to be creative, let alone write something substantial. whenever i’m in this state, i consume more than i create. art, media, music, magazines, literature. i spend less time trying to make sense of my thoughts and more time looking for people who already have.

remember when this newsletter was filled with articles and tasteful internet culture content? i’m bringing that back.

this fills my cup. and while i love a good girl blog as much as all of you do, i’m not in a state of mind where i feel like sharing my heart with strangers on the internet right now. nor do i have the energy to write a think piece. but when inspo eventually strikes, i’ll send my thoughts your way.

the internet may look like the big bad wolf these days, but there is still so much good here if you know how to sift through the noise.

and if you don’t feel like doing that, you’re in the right place because i’m happy to do it for you.

i think this is how i can help you most right now: by finding an article, film, essay, piece of art, or strange corner of the internet that gives you a little piece of your brain back.

i’ll also use these intros to share whatever i’ve been enjoying lately that feels worthy of taking up space in this newsletter. little things. recommendations. observations. things that make life feel more interesting.

we’ll start there, and then i’ll share some articles i’ve stumbled across recently that might help scratch the intellectual itch i know a lot of us have been feeling.

lately…

-og anonuby. i love the knicks and i love basketball and i love og even more. not only is he incredibly talented but his personality makes me feel understood.

-tru fru dark chocolate blueberry. the perfect late night sweet treat feat. one of my favorite fruits.

these are yummy too.

-

bossa nova

for sweltering summer days. things clarice lispector would listen to.

-

laundress soft focus.

i’m a laundress stan through and through. the best detergent they ever made was from the collab they did with le labo, specifically the rose 31 scent. soft focus is a newer scent and it’s warm, addictive, delicious and makes me want to laundry all day every day. i wish they made dryer sheets and linen sprays in this scent.

-

you ever came by grouper

-

nei wai bra.

i’m the biggest bra hater you will ever meet. this brand has come the closest to changing my mind. i usually do not wear a bra, but when i do, it’s almost always this one.

-watching the peanuts specials

-arazlo. my dermatologist is one of my favorite people in the world. the most kind, warm hearted, intelligent woman i’ve ever met and i trust her with my whole heart. most of what she has recommended to me for skincare has been

cera ve

,

la roshe posay

, and this

skin better serum

(love this one). and tretinoin. if she recommends something i will immediately get it because she has never let me down. my last visit she asked if i would be open to breaking up with tret to try something new. so ofc i said yes. arazlo has been one of the biggest game changers for my skin. i noticed a difference within the first week of using it. everyone’s skin is different so please consult with a physician before trying anything new. i just love skincare and derm things so when i try something that makes a difference i wont shut up about it.

-

bal d’afrique

.

both the perfume and the

body cream

have become summer staples for me. there’s something deeply nostalgic about this scent. it reminds me of childhood summers by the lake, warm evenings at the beach, and coconut-lime smoothies. it’s fresh, sunny, and comforting all at once. if you’re not ready to commit to the fragrance, please try the

body cream

,

it is so good!!, especially layered with the

body oil.

okay, that’s all for now. let’s get into some articles.

La Collectionneuse (Éric Rohmer, 1967)
