How are you thinking about getting dressed these days? Fall is a season of light-wash denim and suede, knits paired with interesting pants but no coat required or vice versa: coat and barely anything under. The palette feels like a Thanksgiving card with various shades of ivory and oatmeal and periwinkle blue, brown and orange. Some neutral greens. Textures get richer, fair isles begin to freckle the streets and everything looks almost edible against the movie-set light reflecting transforming foliage. New York peaks in the fall.

Alexa Chung x Ref velvet

and

jacket

(styled as top),

Slvrlake

jeans,

Jil Sander

boots. And in case you’re curious, I’m smiling at Jojo:

We haven’t yet gone full black, so the wheels are turning and on the days when you can realistically fuse the remaining relics of summer with the chill in the air, you get to feel like you’re right there in the sweet spot: honoring time past and enjoying the motion of forward progress.

Etro

vest (

here

is a pass from

La Double J

),

Ossou

denim jacket,

Aflalo

ripped jeans (still love

these bad boys

from Moussy, and different vibe

here

but like,

wow

),

Gabriela Hearst

cowboy clogs

Aflalo shirt (comparable

material

, comparable

),

Delia Wade

a-line tweed jacket (I think

this

is her seasonal update),

Eterne

jeans (the fit is great),

Valentino

sandals

Kujten

sweater styled over the same cotton voile shirt with

the same jeans

and old Chanel sandals. There’s a subtle

Phoebe-vibe about them

if you consider

these

? Maybe it’s the square toe.

All Three

leather jacket (I’m wearing a size medium; there are more sizes

here

;

she

is such a hottie too),

Aflalo

red knit (high v!), and

surf pants

(get

pink

! Or forgo altogether in the name of

these

— thanks to Phoebe, it is definitely the fall of the fancy five-pocket).

Same cowboy clogs

(but

these

r on sale. I got them! Quality buy). Sunglasses are

Jimmy Fairly

Before

Phoebe’s halter dress-top

, there was

Sibem

!!! Styled with

A Golde

cargos (they come

black

too) and old Bottega boots (the key is the long toe line, which is why I also love

these

); sunglasses are

Warby Parker

Ossou jean jacket (which

comes dark wash

too),

Araks

slip dress,

LMC x Swedish Stockings

tights (I’m not, btw, a no on

this

styled with like,

this

over it…),

Prada

kitties and

a very great St. Agni tote

. She’s huge and a comfortable wear!

Pixie Market

knit (

this one

has a similar neck thing going for it),

Aflalo

capris, Chanel sandies and Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses.

These

instead?

On the runway, it was a season of many skirts (Prada, Dries), and achievable but still exciting styling ideas (Celine, Chanel). These generated exactly what inspiration is supposed to: a jolt of creative energy mixed with the sense that you can do it too.

I loved the round frame amber lenses and statement earrings at Celine —

Comparable

sunglasses

(or

darker

;

these

from Auralee nail the vibe too),

comparable

tee.

I think the jacket is actually black but it reads a little brown - maybe it’s the knit against the leather creating a cool texture dynamic

Got to love a chestnut brown.

More broadly I think the circular shape is returning. Two’s not quite a trend (they were Gabriela Hearst too) but I can feel it coming. The simple combinations of black and brown at Celine, mixed with metal accents or pearls (basically the equivalent of a sliver of a white t shirt peeking out of a dark knit) including one key bicep bangle that gave mine new life for the winter ahead felt approachably modern too —

Here’s my pass with an

All Three

ribbed turtleneck and

pants

,

Kallmeyer

belt (the perfect, saturated shade of brown),

Prada

shoes (should it have been

these

!).

Jimmy Fairly

sunglsses and

LMC

arm cuff

Dagmar

leather jacket,

Simkhai

top (love how the necklines of these two pieces speak to each other; and more broadly re Simkhai:

everything

is

looking

like such

a grand ball

over there), St. Agni

suede skirt

and

bag

,

Mango

sandals and

a loooong strand of pearls

wrapped around my ankle. Can’t wait to do this

over tights

too

Maria McManus

duster (but wait, look at

her

…),

DL1961

tube top,

Aflalo

pants,

The Row

heels

Chanel really got me too: I relished the ritual of dropping off my kids at school, getting a coffee and sitting with the photos, like they were a new issue of my favorite magazine, or a book I don’t want to put down. I scrolled through the photos one by one, detail by detail, savoring the components of each look. In a way I guess the collection is a book: an unfolding story about what is possible when you bring the essence of your creative life force to a high stakes project like running a billion-dollar fashion house, which demands such a vulnerable, public display of endurance, of challenging and exposing soft parts of yourself.

The belt on belt!

But when it pays off, it’s ecstasy. I filed away the rope belts as Very Important (they were present at The Row too but in a totally different way, and Celine and Gabriela Hearst). I went on Etsy almost immediately and ordered

some thick leather chord

— thick enough to tie around my waist (without it looking like string) on a fitted open shirt just as seen above, but thin enough too, to loop

a pendant

through (hanging from a pretty wide bale). I can’t wait to wear it with an actual belt looped through my pants. I’ve been hanging things off those bad boys too.

LMC

turquoise choker,

Rohe

blazer (

this

is still the preferred underthing, but craving

pink

or

red

for a little flash of something against the

turquoise

…), a similar belt for you

here

, pants

here

and le

cowboy clogs

. For alt:

these

from Depop are doing something good. I like the bolts on

these from Schutz

— a good way to break up a boring out, but to do it with subtlety. But honestly, actually, shapewise

these are def better

.

The sale boots

I was telling you about earlier are shown here.

Holy cow

in more ways

than one

!

Giuliva Heritage

jacket (

an alt

),

Flore Flore

crop long sleeve tee,

Doen

jeans and

Rue de Verneuil

tote (the shape is great, but not a laptop bag.

This one

is for that). Sunglasses alt for you

here

Alex Mill

jacket (it’s a medium),

WNU

flannel shirt (

here

for a more fitted interior pass), Roxanne Assoulin

gold chain belt

(and

alt

),

All Three

white sweatpants,

The Row’s

distressed kitten heels and Warby Parker’s ‘

Arlo

’

I’m pregnant again, if that wasn’t clear. The “announcement” feels less like a thing when you’re incubating no.4, but it was a weird road over. I’ll tell you about it once I’ve been able to piece it together more coherently myself.

I’m 5 months along and missing high waist pants but enjoying participation in fashion trends where I can, with sleeveless knits and off-but-still-on proportions. Cowboy boots at (almost) every turn!

Ely Ely

knit (

here

is an ivory halter t-neck from Mango),

All Three

pants,

Gabriela Hearst

boots

Malo

coat (and

your alt

— collar up for sure),

Donni

henley (can’t recommend her enough), Doen jeans again (still love

these

a lot too, or would consider

these

for alt),

Wales Bonner

boots (so glad Becky made me buy them last year;

this simpler Proenza pair

feels kinda similar — and

wood sole

!!), a silk scarf choker for you

here

Giuliva Heritage

jacket (

this is the alt rec

, actually think it creates a more interesting contrast with wool trousers because of the harsh different in material; second alt is

this from Sir

— with an open back so more like a subversive top), Suzie Kondi tank (love the shape of it),

Aflalo

surf pants and Prada boots (try

these

from

Lucchesse

or

these

from

Tecovas

; pretty hot on

the red suedies

too!),

LMC

choker (

this vintage choker

is gorgeous too) and Jacques Marie Mage sunglasses. May I suggest

these

in their place?

Something about the spirit of Ann Demeulemeester’s S26 show had me inspired too. I clocked these looks:

Great shoes, love the sheer slip too.

This

from Harris Trapper is a good negotiation. Also really liking a

black-base graphic tee

these days. Surprised that’s Abercrombie, but here we are! Pairing

something like this

with it definitely hits that Demeulemeester note.

The vibe is

Alex Mill

goth

Noting the fluid fusion of a sort goth-meets-prep energy, but myself ended up dressed something like this:

Maria McManus

robe,

Bobkova

dress (if you don’t love the open back, I’d go for

something like this

in her place), Bottega boots (

these

from J. Crew are good!), sunglasses

here

and pearl necklace is by me. “Dm for prices!”

Anya Hindmarch

clutch (thrilling

in rhinestone

too). You can try pearls like

these

in this strand’s place?

Must be the season of the witch!

More from the valley of skirts/one particular dress:

St. Agni

bag, Linnea Lund

sweater

and

skirt

, The Row boots (red tights instead?), the pendant is from

Anna Grace Blower

and

here

are your sunglasses again

Here’s my grandma’s leather coat,

now reworked

. It’s styled over

a fitted knit polo button down

, with

a silk skinny scarf

(and

this from Valentino

has fall all over it);

Swedish Stockings

knee highs and Prada kitties (if you’re a 37.5,

they’re

already on Resee)

LMC

turquoise choker,

Soeur

pink jacket, Liffner turquoise clutch (with

this

as your alt), a white skirt

here

,

Swedish Stockings

knee highs, Prada kitten heels (here’s also

lace up, distressed white

)

An old wool coat, but

she seems like a real good time

!!!,

Araks

dress,

LMC x Swestock

tights,

Versace

versace versace sandals

They seem to, for me these days, require a pointed toe or at least a heel. I’d love to try something out with a cowboy boot too, and something more sheer on top —

A black sheer slip (Heirlome, it’s gone, but I love the shape of

this one from Colina Strada

) is the base layer, with a white silk button down styled over (

Harliehan

), then a shapely collarless leather coat (

Aflalo

), with

a black silk scarf choker

and western-adjacent boots (old Prada; found them on TRR — if there’s a will, there’s a way!)

The Veil

gold bag. My alts for you are

this

,

this

,

this

.

Thought we were done with sheer clothes for a bit, but a lot of new life was breathed into their lungs c/o Khaite, Loewe, Valentino (I loved it), the aforementioned Demeulemeester and Chanel.

Primo color pairing, an ideal going outfit from Valentino. I saw a lot more restraint this season, and liked it

Loewe

Anddd here’s one from a favorite of the season: Jonathan Anderson’s masterful rendition of spring for Dior

The unmentioned style impulses running through the story include chokers, scarves as chokers and a lot of bold jewelry. For the obvious reason that it’s my new project, and taking up major mental terrain.

The wild woman ring on the left (she’s new), with the classic

Romani cuffs

and our

Greek key pinky ring

💍

Soeur

suede jacket (

this one

is more saturated, a little more Prada),

Frances de Lourdes

tank, Brock jeans (very similar to

these from Slvrlake

), good kitties for you

here

. My dolphin choker! She’s 1/1

Turquoise choker

,

chiclet bracelet

The choker: five rows of blue tiger eye beads behind a black mother of pearl wreath with dolphins and turtles on it. The hanging pendant is an Alexandrite with a halo of natural diamonds around. She is 1/1. The ring is

here

Earrings are new! Cuffs are available!

Aflalo

coat,

Giuzio

body tee,

Emily Dawn Long

pants,

Soeur

sandals. Dropping in

these sunglasses

one more time!!!

Still a great sleeve t-neck knit choice

. Think the Leyla ring (at left) is my favorite of the current loot. Bicep bangle

here

. I have one in stock too 👀

A leopard/animal print coat is becoming fall wardrobe canon, with

this

from Loulou de Saison,

Nour Hammour

doubling down on

tiger print

,

Nili Lotan

and

La Ligne

jumping on the leopard bandwagon,

Toteme

returning to it but you know what?

The best bets

are

still

most

likely loitering

around the

second

hand

internet

. I’ve been looking for

her

, for example, since Demna Gvasalia first introed

the Opera coat

at Balenciaga. But I don’t know if I’d take the bait. Lately I’m craving shearling on the inside, embroidered suede on the outside. If you see something, say something.

Signing off yours,

Leandra
